The Born to Run Foundation is establishing a new running event in The Simpson Desert based out of Birdsville, Queensland in 2013.

The Big Red Run will be an exciting week long event, covering unchartered parts of the Simpson Desert, and will include fantastic campsite entertainment each night.

Runners can choose from the Big Red Run; a 250km 6 day stage race, the Big Red Marathon; a 42k "dash" from Birdsville to Big Red, or the Born to Run 100; a unique 100km desert run.

This event will be Australia's first and only 250km multi stage desert running race.
Funds raised from the Big Red Run will go to the Born to Run Foundation to help achieve its objectives, including funding Type 1 diabetes research.

We are currently working hard on all of the necessary arrangements for the Big Red Run, and anticipate launching the event for registration at the end of September 2012.
